2017 seems to be vanishing right before our very eyes, and that’s something which this new TV spot for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 makes clear, as it celebrates the fact that the highly anticipated sequel is now just one month away from being released. Hard to believe, eh?
The latest preview for the blockbuster once again contains some awesome new snippets of footage, though the highlight may very well be seeing Drax being dragged along in space in what looks set to be a wacky and highly enjoyable action sequence. While the first movie definitely delivered in that respect, it seems like Gunn has been given a bigger budget and a little more freedom with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to really utilize some unique ideas, which we can’t wait to see.
Something this TV spot doesn’t reveal, though, is Ego the Living Planet. While we’ve caught glimpses of Kurt Russell in the role here and there, the character in his actual planet form has yet to be shown off. That’s no bad thing, of course, and it’s something we’re actually hoping Marvel saves for the movie itself.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theatres on May 5th, and if recent test screenings are any indication, it’s going to be one hell of a film, not to mention it’s set to have one of the biggest openings of all-time. Will all that be enough to lure director James Gunn back for a third outing? Time will tell, but if not, then at least it looks like he’ll be going out on top.
