With Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers out of the picture, the battle is on for the throne of having the most glorious set of glutes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the contenders couldn’t be more different.
On one hand – or cheek, if you will – we have Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, with the actor admitting his booty is looking delicious ahead of shooting on Captain America: New World Order. On the other comes the more unlikely pretender, with M.O.D.O.K.’s tiny little butt cheeks stirring up a frenzy in the wake of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
It was a bizarre shot from a bizarre movie featuring the debut of an altogether bizarre character, but actor Corey Stoll doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, in an interview with ComicBook, he sounded positively thrilled to discover that his digital derriere had become such a sizeable online talking point.
“I wasn’t aware of the fervor, but very glad to hear that. On the very first day I visited set, I went to the offices. They showed me all the art and the animatics. They showed me a brief animatic of that scene, and, I mean, I laughed hysterically. I thought it was so brilliant and funny. Then I heard that they were going to cut that scene, and I lobbied pretty hard for them to put it back in. I can’t take credit for having that in there, but I will.”
Marvel’s VFX wizards have been under the cosh recently, and if all of their hard work digitizing M.O.D.O.K.’s ass turned out to be for nothing were the scene in question left on the cutting room floor, then it may have been the final straw.
