Ethan Hunt is gearing up for his next assignment.
Despite an unexpected break in production – five months ago, Paramount halted all filming due to Tom Cruise’s serious on-set injury – Mission: Impossible 6 is now barreling down on its primetime summer release, and though the sequel’s admittedly slight promotional campaign has been limited to the Instagram feed of Christopher McQuarrie (and what a feed it is), Paramount appears ready to debut a tangible reel of footage.
Yes, the first teaser for Mission: Impossible 6 is in the can, as McQuarrie has posted a shot of the instantly recognizable MPAA splash screen to prove it. That tells us a reveal is imminent, with some fans theorizing that Paramount will hold fire until February’s Super Bowl.
However, we’re inclined to believe that the official M:I 6 trailer will be with us before the week is out, as The Graham Norton Show, a long-running BBC chat show, has booked all of the sequel’s core cast – namely Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg – for its episode on Friday, January 26th. Let the speculation commence.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the BBC’s official channels as the week unfolds, but in order to keep viewers ticking over, Christopher McQuarrie also dropped two beautiful black-and-white stills featuring Ferguson and Cavill, whose impressive mustache caused one or two headaches in the Justice League editing room.
The former is set to reprise her role as Ilsa Faust, a former MI6 agent who becomes involved with Hunt. As for Cavill’s character, well, it’s up for question.
Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go see Mission: Impossible 6 when it lights up theaters on July 27th, when Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris, and Black Panther‘s Angela Bassett will round out the ensemble cast.
