There’s been a persistent rumor going around that Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has signed up to join the MCU in The Eternals. As the upcoming movie hasn’t even been officially announced yet, it’s been difficult to verify whether this has any weight to it. But the latest update on the situation should put a lid on the idea for good.
The rumor had died down a bit, but a recent report from Variety opened the floodgates once again when they wrote that Brown would appear in the ensemble superhero film. Brown herself, though, has now categorically denied that she’s involved with the project.
The teen actress did a Q&A on her Instagram today and was naturally asked by one curious fan whether she was going to be in The Eternals. Here’s what she had to say:
“Everybody thinks I’m going to be in a Marvel movie. Not that I know of. My family and I have no idea. So I just want to let everyone know…that I’m not as of right now.”
It would make a lot of sense for Marvel to snap up the actress, whose star is permanently on the rise and who recently featured in her first blockbuster in the form of Godzilla: King of Monsters. But it seems that The Eternals isn’t the right movie for Brown. Kevin Feige himself also said that she hadn’t been cast for any upcoming roles in the franchise recently, just in case you wanted further proof that this isn’t going to happen.
Those who are starring in The Eternals, though, include Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden (probably) and Kumail Nanjiani. Expect some concrete details on the movie from Marvel’s Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 20th.
