Last week, the Powers That Be over at Marvel sounded the klaxon to indicate that Spider-Man: Homecoming, Jon Watts’ fresh-faced reboot that places Tom Holland in the role of the webcrawler, is exactly one year from release.
That means Homecoming is deep in production, as the waves upon waves of set photos attest, and a new snap has found its way online that features what we assume to be Holland hanging about on set. Remember, drawing on his experience as a dancer, the up-and-comer is poised to perform all his own stunts in the Marvel reboot.
[zergpaid]In related news, Michael Keaton offered up a fleeting assessment of Spider-Man: Homecoming in an interview with Haute Living (via CBM). It isn’t one to stop the presses, but the actor, who is all but set to play the part of the villain (Vulture?) opposite Holland, told Haute Living that Homecoming is a “big budget movie that will be an awful lot of fun.” Not exactly groundbreaking, but hey, at least we know Keaton is stoked to be a part of the Marvel ensemble.
And can you really blame him? To date, Marvel has enlisted a who’s who of Hollywood talent, including Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Michael Mando, Bokeem Woodbine, Abraham Attah, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Garcelle Beauvais, Tiffany Espensen, Zendaya and The Nice Guys breakout Angourie Rice.
Spider-Man: Homecoming scurries into theaters on July 7, 2017. While we wait to see more from the set, check out this recent batch of photos that swung online last week.
