Variety is reporting that the man who took Hollywood by storm in 2011, Michael Fassbender, is in discussions with 20th Century Fox to star in The Mountain Between Us.
Gerardo Naranjo will be directing and the film will be an adaptation of Charles Martin’s novel of the same name. It will tell the story of “two strangers who survive a plane crash in the Colorado woods and are forced to rely on one another for survival, eventually falling in love.”
Fassbender is set to play Ben Trace, “a doctor and avid climber who uses his skills to transport an injured writer named Ashley down a mountain in harsh weather.”
This sounds like another exciting project for Fassbender to add to his incredibly busy schedule. Coming up, he has The Counselor and a sequel for X-Men: First Class, both of which are getting ready to go into production. And of course, there’s also Prometheus which is hitting theatres in just a few months
The Mountain Between Us looks like it will add even more variety to the talented actor’s filmography and I’m glad to see him continue to take on projects like this. Fassbender is one of the top up and coming actors in Hollywood and so far, it looks like his 2012 will be just as electrifying as his 2011 was.
