It’s the Marvel netherworld in which all concepts of time and space become meaningless, and just as the prophecy Kevin Feige foretold, the Quantum Realm is all set to become a key pillar of the Marvel Cinematic Universe… beginning with the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.
Ant-Man and the Wasp star Michael Douglas essentially confirmed as much earlier this week when he swung by On Air With Ryan Seacrest (h/t Reddit), where he noted that the Quantum Realm is an “integral” part of Avengers 4.
The MCU veteran naturally stopped short of revealing too much, too soon – lest he invoke the wrath of Marvel Studios and the Powers That Be over at Disney. Because let’s face it, without a title or teaser trailer to call its own, Avengers 4 is right up there with the most secretive film projects currently in active development, and it’ll be another few weeks (November, perhaps?) before Marvel is ready to showcase its wares.
This week saw a flurry of fresh Avengers 4 rumors claiming that the sequel’s first trailer was on the verge of release. We’ve since learned that that’s simply not the case, nor is Marvel Studios plotting an IMAX launch for the preview of what’s undoubtedly the biggest MCU movie of 2019. Take nothing away from Captain Marvel, of course; it’s just that Avengers 4 is practically in a league of its own when it comes to size, scope, and stakes.
Moreover, we can readily expect an IMAX rollout for Avengers 4 when the time comes; it’s just those rumors of the sequel’s teaser trailer being formatted for a large-screen showcase appear to be off the mark. Hell, IMAX flat out denied them.
Avengers 4 touches down into theaters on May 3rd, 2019 – a mere 197 days from now. But who’s counting, right?
