Opening at the end of the month is No Escape, a new thriller from Quarantine director John Erick Dowdle. Starring Owen Wilson, Lake Bell and Pierce Brosnan, early trailers paint it as a competent, if unremarkable genre film that could offer up a few hours of harmless entertainment. After all, it’s always enjoyable to watch Brosnan kicking ass and taking names, no matter how old he may be getting.
Today, Collider has premiered an exclusive clip from the flick, which features Brosnan doing just that. Though quite short, we see the actor, who plays a government operative, taking care of some bad guys in a stairwell in brutal fashion. It teases the fast-paced action we can expect to see fromĀ No Escape, and certainly does its job in whetting our appetite for more.
For those unfamiliar with the film, it follows an American couple, played by Bell and Wilson, who find themselves “caught in the middle of a violent uprising after moving their family to Southeast Asia. They subsequently rely on a government operativeĀ to get them to safety.” Sounds a bit generic, but as I said above, it very likely will turn out to be a harmless way to kill a few hours.
No Escape opens on August 26th.
