Here come the Men in Black – and they’ve brought Jenko and Schmidt along with them for the ride.
During Sony’s panel at the ongoing CinemaCon event, the studio’s planned Jump Street/Men in Black crossover was given an official title: MIB 23. An official logo was also showcased during the event – you can find it above, courtesy of ComicBook – though no further details were disclosed at the time of writing.
[zergpaid]Last we reported on Sony’s franchise crossover, both Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were attached to reprise their roles as the bumbling undercover cops, with James Bobin (The Muppets, Alice Through the Looking Glass) primed to take up the reins from Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are busy with Disney’s Han Solo origins movie. Having helped fire the Jump Street series into an international success, though, Lord and Miller remain involved as creative consultants.
On the Men in Black side of things, there’s no word yet as to whether Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones will don the black suits and Neuralyzers for Sony’s event flick – which was first revealed after the company’s massive email hack – but we’ll keep you updated as the project marches forward resolutely into production.
Of all the weird and wacky sequels teased during the credits of 22 Jump Street (which you can watch below), it’s fair to say that Jenko and Schmidt could have never imagined crossing paths with Agents K and J. But nevertheless, Sony’s MIB 23 is beginning to pick up steam, and we’re certainly intrigued to see where it goes.
