Six is the magic number. It’s nice and round and it worked for the first ever Avengers movie, so naturally fans reckon that the two upcoming Avengers titles will give us 6 central Avengers as the focus, but who exactly could they be?
One fan posed the question on the Marvel Studios subreddit asking who should be the main focus in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. They kicked things off by posting who they’d personally like to see as the main six Avengers.
“My picks are Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Mister Fantastic, Captain Marvel, Captain America II, and Thor. (Some runners-up in my head are She-Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Hulk, both Hawkeyes, Black Widow II, Ms. Marvel, Loki, Moon Knight, Ant-Man, and Deadpool.) What do you think?”
Many of the same names appeared across the numerous fan lists with Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Captain America being popular choices. Thor is pretty much a given too considering he’s the only one there who was a part of the original six. However, Jeremy Renner has confirmed that he would be up for returning as Hawkeye.
Captain America and Spider-Man have got to make the cut because of how popular they are. How could you have the Avengers without Cap? Sure it’s not Steve Rogers but it’s still the Captain. Spider-Man is pretty much hands down one of the most popular Marvel heroes so they’ve got to give him a major role in the film.
Surprisingly, Loki was named a few times to be on the Avengers team, showing just how far he’s come from his role as the villain of the first film. Other names were thrown in too, like Shang-Chi, Vision, Ant-Man and Ms. Marvel. Actually it doesn’t seem like the fans have narrowed it down at all. There’s so much potential across the MCU right now it could literally be anyone, but the question is, will they live up to the original Avengers?
