Marvel has announced (via HitFix) that their unnamed 2014 film will move from a May 16th release to one on August 1st. Although the movie is untitled, buzz around the film, originating from Latino Review, widely accepts that it will be centered around Guardians of the Galaxy – a team of superheroes who aim to defeat Thanos, implied by a post-credits scene from The Avengers to be the villain for The Avengers 2.
Marvel’s winning streak doesn’t look like it will be taking a break anytime soon – 2014 is also the year Steve Rogers makes an April comeback in Captain America 2. In 2013, Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 are expected to premiere – not to mention, Edgar Wright’s recently finished test film for Ant Man and the long stagnant Black Panther movie, which is being hinted for a long awaited release.
Personally, I cannot wait for the future to catch up with the rest of us. The highlight of a wait period is a chance to catch up on comics revolving around the Guardians of the Galaxy, but at the moment, 2014 seems like it’s light-years away.
