Do you hear that? That’s the sound of the Internet’s most popular Thanos subreddit still reeling from the effects of Monday’s digital rapture.
True to their word, moderators of ‘r/ThanosDidNothingWrong’ banned more than 350,000 members at random when the clock struck midnight GMT (5 pm Pacific Time). What did it cost? Everything.
The meme-worthy stunt, one inspired by Avengers: Infinity War and its purple-skinned tyrant, also set a new record for the number of Reddit users banned simultaneously, so it’s no wonder last night’s finger snap – a snap which required access to the Reddit servers, as opposed to the mystical Infinity Gauntlet – caught the attention of Joe and Anthony Russo, along with the Mad Titan himself, Josh Brolin.
Indeed, membership numbers of ‘r/ThanosDidNothingWrong’ ballooned over the weekend, rising from approximately 100,000 to more than 700,000 – a seven-fold increase, no less – as enthused fans surrendered to Thanos’ culling. And now that the ban has taken into effect, Marvel Studios has responded to what is undoubtedly one of the most historic events in Reddit history.
Via Twitter (h/t ComicBook.com), the studio released a prescient GIF of Thanos coming to terms with his destiny, though it wasn’t long before the official Ant-Man and the Wasp Twitter account reacted in disbelief, simply writing, “guys?!” – presumably in reference to the sequel’s post-credits scene.

Guys?!

Similar to the movie on which it is based, it’s unknown just what happened to those Redditors erased from ‘r/ThanosDidNothingWrong’ – perhaps they’re also housed up inside the Soul Stone? Now comes the fun part, did you survive the Snappening of 2018?
Meanwhile, over on Reddit, moderators can watch the sun rise over a grateful subreddit. Or, you know, something to that effect…
