Marvel Producer Says Never Say Never To Possible Lady Sif Return

Thor doesn't have many of his people left, what with the destruction of his homeworld in Thor: Ragnarok and then Thanos wiping half of them out in Avengers: Infinity War. You'd think the surviving Asgardians would all stick together, then, but one of the God of Thunder's closest friends hasn't been seen on the big screen for six years. I'm talking about Lady Sif, as played by Jaimie Alexander.

There hasn’t been an on-screen explanation for her absence in the MCU either, unlike her unfortunate allies the Warriors Three who were all killed by Hela in Ragnarok. So, there’s still the possibility for Sif to return, then. But is it likely to happen? Victoria Alonso, Marvel’s EVP of Production, was asked this during her Reddit AMA and she left us with hope for a Sif comeback, saying:

“Never say never. We love Sif the character as we do our actress, Jaimie Alexander.”

Sif’s last cinematic appearance came in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, though she did also feature in an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that same year. The real reason Alexander hasn’t appeared in the franchise since then is because she’s been busy shooting NBC’s Blindspot, but Kevin Feige has also provided an in-universe explanation for her vanishing act. Apparently, Loki – when he was disguised as Odin – banished Sif from Asgard, fearing that she would see through his ruse.

Alonso’s answer doesn’t give anything away, but it was reported earlier this year that Marvel is planning to bring Sif back into the fold. And not just for a bit part in the next Thor film, either. Alexander could easily get her own Disney Plus TV series exploring Lady Sif‘s solo adventures. Heck, Beta Ray Bill is even rumored to join her.
