Paramount has released a new poster today for Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction. Set to star Mark Wahlberg, T.J. Miller, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz, the film will take place four years after the last entry in the series. A new enemy threat has emerged and Transformers are now being hunted down and banished. Wahlberg will play an auto mechanic who, along with his daughter (Peltz), makes a discovery that attracts the attention of both the Autobots and Decepticons.
This new poster, though it doesn’t reveal a whole lot, does promise a large scale and scope for the film, which will also no doubt boast some terrific visual effects. Other than that, there’s not much to see here. That being said, I do kind of dig its ominous and foreboding tone, with that rather large object looming in the background.
Say what you will about Bay and his Transformers films, but I happen to really enjoy the series. I walk in knowing exactly what to expect and for the past three outings, I’ve left the theatre pretty satisfied. Each entry promises a couple hours of mindless entertainment that you can just lose yourself in while you turn off your brain and personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. We need these types of films every so often to balance out some of the heavier, weightier stuff and having had a blast in all three Transformers entries so far, I’m definitely looking forward to experiencing another adrenaline-pumping thrill ride when Bay’s fourth instalment hits theatres.
Transformers: Age of Extinction will roll into theatres on June 27th, 2014.
