Despite his reputation, Mark Ruffalo has been pretty good lately about keeping all the biggest Avengers: Endgame spoilers to himself. Still, on the night of the film’s world premiere, you can imagine that the team at Marvel Studios may have been a little nervous that the Hulk actor would drop some accidental intel at the eleventh hour.
With that in mind, a new Reddit post has gone viral for its suggestion that the red carpet livestream was doing all it could to stop Ruffalo from giving the game away. The post consists of a screenshot of the MCU regular being interviewed at the event, followed by a comment from YouTube user Emilio Chandia, who observes that the music gets louder when the actor starts speaking.
To be fair, Ruffalo’s reputation certainly didn’t come out of nowhere. Back in 2017, for instance, he accidentally live-streamed the first twenty minutes of Thor: Ragnarok. And while the star has since claimed that his bosses were actually pleased with all the free publicity gained from the incident, it’s doubtful that they would’ve been quite so thrilled if Ruffalo had repeated his mistake at the Endgame premiere.
In an interview earlier this month with Yahoo, Ruffalo also recalled how he filmed two different endings to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, one of which saw Bruce Banner turn to dust. The measure was presumably taken as a means of throwing off the leakers, though it certainly didn’t stop the star from blurting out that “everybody dies” in a 2017 interview with Good Morning America.
Regardless, Marvel and Ruffalo have been keeping a tight lid on the details of Hulk’s arc in Avengers: Endgame, but all will be revealed when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
