Academy Award winning actress Marion Cotillard has reportedly been offered the role of King Arthur’s half sister, Morgana, in David Dobkin‘s Arthur & Lancelot. The film is currently in pre-production and is quickly becoming one of 2013’s most highly anticipated titles.
If Cotillard does accept the part, she will be starring alongside Game Of Thrones star Kit Harington and The Killing star Joel Kinnaman as Arthur and Lancelot, respectively. It has also been reported that Gary Oldman has been offered the part of Merlin, but it is unclear if he will accept.
Personally, while I like Harington and Kinnaman for these roles, I doubt that Oldman and Cotillard will become part of the film. With two very young and relatively unknown leading actors, it is hard to believe the supporting cast would be filled with talent like Cotillard and Oldman.
Plus, the film is slated to begin filming in January, which is when Cotillard is planning to star in both James Grey‘s Low Life, alongside Joaquin Phonenix and Jeremy Renner, and her partner Guillaume Canet‘s Blood Ties, which has Mark Wahlberg and Zoe Saldana in talks to join.
But then again, who knows. Maybe Cotillard and Oldman will hop on board, stranger things have happened.
Arthur & Lancelot stars Kit Harington and Joel Kinnaman, and will be released on March 13th, 2013.
