The Thor: Ragnarok media blowout continues unabated, as numerous outlets publish their set reports and in turn, unleash a treasure chest of new details on the hugely anticipated threequel. Throughout the course of the day we’ve heard about everything from the film’s ties to Avengers: Infinity War to how the ending will impact the God of Thunder moving forward. But it doesn’t stop there. Not at all.
Now, to cap off what’s been one heck of a busy day for fans, Marvel has released a new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok and surprisingly, it actually features a good deal of new footage. Packed with non-stop action and some truly humorous moments, we get a brand new look at Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, via a massive projection, a great exchange between Thor and Valkyrie, a few glimpses of the arena fight between the titular hero and the Hulk and a whole lot more. All in all, it’s another great preview for the threequel and acts as the perfect way to finish off what’s been a very exciting day for Marvel fans.
Dubbed the buddy cop movie of the MCU, Ragnarok is all about pushing the God of Thunder like he’s never been pushed before. Set a full four years after the events of The Dark World – and two after Age of Ultron, for those keeping track – Waititi’s first entry in the ever-evolving franchise begins with the Norse god confronting evil at his doorstep. Hela, Goddess of Death, has descended upon Asgard to claim Odin’s throne as her own, and despite his best efforts, Thor is unable to put an end to her devastating siege.
One would assume Hela is harnessing the power of the sixth and final Infinity Stone (Soul) to wreak havoc, thereby teeing up the events of Avengers: Infinity War ahead of its own release in May of next year. But before the Russo Brothers orchestrate the biggest showdown the MCU has ever witnessed – so far, at least – Waititi will be serving up the latest (and greatest?) solo adventure for Marvel’s God of Thunder.
Chris Hemsworth’s titular hero embarks on his journey of self-discovery when Thor: Ragnarok touches down in just a few short months, and yes, it’ll seemingly herald the “fight of the century.” We are, of course, referring to Thor and Hulk, who will entertain the wacky citizens of Sakaar before joining forces for the fight against Hela.
