There’ve been rumours floating around for a while now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will give Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren his very own TIE Fighter, and that’s now been confirmed thanks a toy listing of all things.
An eagle-eyed user over on Reddit noticed that retail store Barnes and Noble have listed a Funko Pop TIE Fighter belonging to the villain. It’s unknown exactly why Kylo’s decided to take flight in one of these ships, but it’s pretty clear now that he’ll be following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Darth Vader, by seemingly heading into battle with a Fighter of his own. That should definitely be fun to see, especially as Vader didn’t fare all that well when he attempted to blow Luke out of the sky in Star Wars: A New Hope.
It’s been rumoured that this TIE Fighter might belong to the leader of the Knights of Ren, a position it’s thought Kylo holds based on what little we know about the mysterious group, one that seemingly wiped out Luke’s Jedi apprentices and sent him into hiding. Whether that turns out to be accurate or not though obviously remains to be seen.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is getting closer and closer and that the next trailer should be here in a few months. It’s possible that Ren’s TIE Fighter will appear in the new footage, too, as it’d no doubt make for a big talking point amongst fans. Until we get something more though, all we can do is speculate as to why the villain’s been given his own Fighter in Rian Johnson’s film. If you’ve got any theories of your own though, feel free to share them down below!
