I’m not nearly as harsh on the DC Extended Universe as others may be, as I think – despite some missteps – that there’s a lot to enjoy about what’s been served up thus far. Still, I must concede that its finest offering to date was that of the Amazon Warrior’s first solo movie, so I’m right there with anyone else who’s eagerly anticipating Wonder Woman 2.
Of course, it’s assumed that’s merely a placeholder title because numbering DC movies just hasn’t been the modus operandi of Warner Bros. since the days of Christopher Reeve’s Superman. Granted, not many other heroes from this brand aside from Batman have been granted sequels in the time since, but you can’t deny the pattern that’s emerged.
So, before we move on, let’s go over what we do know about Diana Prince’s next adventure. To date, we’ve learned that Kristen Wiig has been cast as the villainous Cheetah, the story will take place during the 1980’s, and that Wondy will receive a new costume (fingers crossed for either what was on display in Wonder Woman #600 or David Finch’s design from the short-lived DC You era). On top of that, a rough logo has surfaced as well.
Getting back to what the followup will actually be dubbed, it’s worth mentioning that WB has already registered a slew of domains, thus hinting at possible titles. The first batch we’ll list off really seem to beat the notion of how the film will occur during the ’80s over our heads:

wonderwoman1981.com
wonderwoman1982.com
wonderwoman1983.com
wonderwoman1984.com
wonderwoman1985.com
wonderwoman1986.com
wonderwoman1987.com
wonderwoman1988.com
wonderwoman1989.com
Straightforward as those may be, they’re unbelievably mundane and I hope they’re only key to marketing. The next group, however, may very well contain what we’re looking for:
wonderwomanarrives.com
wonderwomancheetah.com
wonderwomanlives.com
wonderwomanminerva.com
wonderwomanpart2.com
wonderwomanpartii.com
wonderwomanreturns.com
wonderwomanrises.com
Although a couple of those contain actual numerals, I support “Wonder Woman Returns.” After all, we’ve already had Batman Returns and Superman Returns, so why not have the third member of the Trinity follow suit? Regardless, we’ll keep you posted on whatever lies ahead for the tentatively titled Wonder Woman 2.
