Hot off the news that Liam Neeson may be starring in the upcoming adaptation of Neuromancer, we now have more news concerning the Irish actor, and it comes to us in the form of a Taken 2 trailer.
If you’ll recall, we saw an international trailer not too long ago but now we have the first official theatrical trailer for Taken 2, which is of course, a sequel to the 2008 smash hit Taken.
Colombiana‘s Olivier Megaton steps into the directing seat this time around as we see Bryan Mills (Neeson) and his wife (Famke Janssen) kidnapped by the baddies from the first film. With our favorite action hero out of commission, it’s up to his daughter (Maggie Grace) to save him.
Though we do get a bit of recycled footage here, there are a couple new glimpses of some of the film’s bigger set pieces, which all look very exciting. Megaton’s direction looks solid as well and after seeing him handle the action in films like Transporter 3 and Colombiana, I have confidence that he’ll be able to do the film justice, especially seeing as he’s under the guidance of trusted mentor Luc Besson.
Admittedly, Taken 2 looks a lot like the first film but then again, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I loved Taken and even if the sequel is just more of the same, I won’t be upset. Who doesn’t enjoy watch Liam Neeson kick ass? Anyone?
Taken 2 will hit theatres on October 5th, 2012. Check out the trailer below.
