The best part of Zack Snyder’s epic of epicness Man of Steel was arguably the trailer. It had everything: intense voiceover, explosions, Christ imagery, and Henry Cavill’s abs. No surprise then that The LEGO Movie, which features a version of Supes himself, has taken the Man of Steel idea and shaped and molded it into a Man of Plastic.
The LEGO Movie features the voice talents of everyone in Hollywood: Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Charlie Day, Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and, of course, God…I mean, Morgan Freeman. The cast is headed by Man of Plastic Emmet, voiced by Chris Pratt, who is mistaken as a savior of some kind. He’s tasked with defeating Lord Business (Ferrell) who wants to destroy the LEGO universe and rebuild it as he sees fit.
The latest trailer for this much anticipated animated feature spoofs Man of Steel with little subtlety but a nice dose of humor. Some of the images are even the same as Man of Steel, only this time featuring LEGO and Morgan Freeman instead of big spaceships and Russell Crowe. I think we can all agree it’s a step up.
Of course, pretty much everyone who saw even the first trailer for The LEGO Movie is already pretty excited for the film. My one concern is that with so many trailers coming out, The LEGO Movie could overstay its welcome before it even sees the light of the cineplex. While none of these trailers have been long enough to really spoil the film, I’m beginning to feel the annoyance of over-saturation.
The LEGO Movie hits theatres on February 7th. You can watch the latest trailer below and let us know what you think about the Man of Steel spoof in the comments. Too much, or does this just whet your appetite more?
