If you’re still pining for more Texas Chainsaw action after the easily forgotten Leatherface, Warner Archive brings good news.
As reported by the folks at Bloody Disgusting, the company has confirmed that, yes, Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is headed to Blu-ray in 2018.
There’s currently no mention of an exact release date, but fans of Jeff Burr’s criminally underrated horror sequel will soon be able to take home the 1990 cult favorite. Angled as the third entry into the time-honored Texas Chainsaw franchise, Massacre III was also the first instalment to come by way of New Line, which was recently responsible for transforming Stephen King’s It into a global phenomenon.
Alas, Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III didn’t fare terribly well when it released 27 years ago, but Warner Archive’s mooted announcement ensures that the film will receive a new lease of life come 2018. You’ll be able to spot Burr’s sequel buried within the following teaser video:

Story-wise, Texas Chainsaw Massacre III honors tradition with a plot that involves yuppie couples and strange hitchhikers. It also includes a rare horror turn from the great Viggo Mortensen, so there’s that.
Here’s the official logline to get you up to speed:
Driving through Texas, young yuppie couple Michelle (Kate Hodge) and Ryan (William Butler) stop at the Last Chance Gas Station, but after they witness the owner attacking a hitchhiker named Tex (Viggo Mortensen), they panic and flee. In their hasty departure, they get lost and soon find themselves pursued by the chainsaw-toting maniac known as Leatherface (R.A. Mihailoff). While running, the couple bump into survivalist Benny (Ken Foree), who they team up with in an effort to escape.
No word on a specific release date just yet, but rest assured: Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is about to rev up the Sawyer chainsaw in 2018, and we couldn’t be more excited. If you need your fix sooner, though, be sure to check out the recent prequel Leatherface, which is now available on Blu-ray and can be purchased through Amazon.
