Not to be outdone by his fellow mutants – or should we say sworn enemies? – 20th Century Fox has pumped out the latest character poster for X-Men: Apocalypse, this time drawing attention to Oscar Isaac’s inimitable big bad.
As one of the major summer blockbusters pegged for release over the coming months, there’s an extra weight to Apocalypse in the sense that, following First Class and Days of Future Past, it represents the final chapter in Bryan Singer’s prequel trilogy.
[zerg]Indeed, early trailers and snippets for X-Men: Apocalypse indicate that Singer and Co. are ready to send off the trilogy on the highest of high notes – in terms of spectacle, at least. Then again, with some of the leading cast dropping hints about potentially reprising their roles in the not-so-distant future, don’t expect Fox to place the X-Men universe on the shelf for too long.
On board for Singer’s calamitous actioner are James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Nicholas Hoult, along with the Four Horsemen – Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Olivia Munn (Psylocke) and Alexandra Shipp as the mercurial Storm.
Batten down the hatches, for on May 27, Bryan Singer will bring about the end of days when X-Men: Apocalypse descends into theaters. To go up close and personal with Oscar Isaac’s big bad, check out the stylish one-sheet, below.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
