Have you ever seen someone say something they immediately regret? Because that’s what happened to Jake Gyllenhaal during his recent appearance on Hot Ones when he accidentally dissed his MCU co-star Elizabeth Olsen.
Meanwhile, Star Wars fans may have finally cracked the enigma of The Mandalorian season three and realized why this latest outing is failing to impress them all that much. Check out these beats in today’s sci-fi roundup down below.
Why Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy still needs to happen
Rian Johnson might still be the most infamous director to have ever worked on a Star Wars movie, and The Last Jedi is sure to spawn heated debates even more than five years after its initial premiere in theaters, but the man should still be given a chance to realize his planned trilogy.
For years, Lucasfilm has dragged its feet when it came to Rian Johnson’s independent film trilogy, and the executives were pretty close-mouthed during the recent Star Wars Celebration in London when the subject was broached. A lot of fans would call that good riddance and never look back, but perhaps there’s a case to be made for Johnson’s storytelling capabilities and directorial chops, and we’ve done just that in this recent article.
Jake Gyllenhaal accidentally accuses his MCU co-star of being an a*shole, but doesn’t miss a beat apologizing
The latest episode of Hot Ones starred Spider-Man: Far From Home star Jake Gyllenhaal. At one point during the show, while under the pressure of venting off hot wings — already half losing his mind with the effort and letting loose that chaotic Gyllenhaal energy he’s famous for — he accused one of his predecessors of being an “a*shole,” little knowing that person was his MCU co-star Elizabeth Olsen.
There’s a half-second pause where Gyllenhaal realizes he’s messed up big time, and then it’s off to regret-ville with the Hollywood thespian. Both he and Sean Evans (the host) laugh it off, fortunately, so let’s hope that Olsen will find it just as humorous.
The Mandalorian fans realize why season 3 is a step down from the first two outings
While the third season of The Mandalorian has incorporated a ton of exciting plot developments for the main protagonists, Star Wars fans can’t help but notice a discernible drop in the storytelling quality.
Now, we might know why. According to what fans are saying, season three has been hell-bent on undoing everything season two established, so much so that by the penultimate episode, we’re essentially right back where we started with the Mandalorians, Moff Gideon, and even Grogu.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni may not be quite out of ideas just yet, but they’ve been dancing on the edges of repetition with The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian for a while now.
