Get Excited For Dark Shadows With These New Photos

Dark Shadows is based on the television show of the same name that was a cult classic back in the late 60s and early 70s. The 17th century vampire Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) was buried alive by a jealous witch and uncovered in the 1970s. Obviously the world looks a bit different. He awakes to find his estate being run by his descendent and matriarch of the living Collins family played by Michelle Pfeiffer. The evil witch (Eva Green) isn’t making “life” easier for him now any more than she did then.

Moviegoers have a lot to look forward to this May!

First out of the gate is The Avengers – a film that has mega Blockbuster potential and features an impressive ensemble of superheroes. Marvel has been pushing the flick pretty hard, though it’s not like the film ever needed a push. It was destined to be a hit from its inception.

Marvel isn’t the only studio that will have a winner on their hands in May though. Warner Bros. is releasing the latest Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration, Dark Shadows, just one week later.

Dark Shadows is based on the television show of the same name that was a cult classic back in the late 60s and early 70s. It revolves around the 17th century vampire Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) who was buried alive by a jealous witch only to be uncovered in the 1970s.

Obviously the world looks a bit different when he awakes and aside from dealing with fitting into a different century, he also returns to estate only to find it being run by his dysfunctional descendants, who are in need of his assistance.

It’s been a while since audiences have seen Burton and Depp team up for a film and if the trailer is any indication – we are in for a thrilling return. Judging from what we’ve seen so far, the is pure Burton/Depp and features everything that audiences would expect from the wacky duo.

There is still almost a month to go until the May 11th release date but until then you can check out the latest Depp-centered photos below.
