With 2022 almost in our rearview mirror, it’s time to start looking at to the many Marvel treats that are coming our way in 2023 and beyond. For starters, the MCU needs to do some serious reconfiguring following the controversial Phase Four, and evidence is mounting that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might be the one to save the franchise. The reformation of the Avengers won’t hurt either, and it seems the next generation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes might be assembling sooner than expected…
The New Avengers rumored roster is riling up the right kind of people
An intriguing new rumor (although emphasis on the rumor part) points to Captain America: New World Order being all about Sam Wilson forming the New Avengers to battle Harrison Ford’s “President Ross.” Although you’d expect everyone to be thrilled the team might return earlier than The Kang Dynasty, a subset of the fandom is up in arms over the rumored roster, which just happens to be equally male and female. Again, this might come to nothing, but at least this chatter is annoying the right kind of people.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 named the most-anticipated movie of 2023, raising hype even higher
James Gunn might not be in DC fans’ good books, but it’s a different story with Marvel lovers as everyone’s eagerly awaiting May’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. So much so that it’s been declared next year’s most anticipated movie, period. What’s more, the director’s latest promise about what the true focus of the MCU’s threequel will be is only raising hopes that it’s going to be the one to get the MCU back on the right track after a couple of years of wayward projects. Bring on the spring!
Yet another beloved Spider-Man variant is confirmed to return for Across the Spider-Verse
The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse proved to be the most exciting thing to happen to Spidey fans since No Way Home (in fact, it may even beat it), and now a follow-up poster has got folks swinging with joy all over again. You see, the new poster plainly depicts perhaps the most beloved Spider-Man variant outside of the movies front and center, promising that we can expect at least a sizeable cameo from them in the animated sequel once it finally arrives this June.
Chris Hemsworth seemingly throws shade at the MCU by praising his new grounded action movie
Everyone’s kinda turned against the Thor movies these days, and speculation is rife that Chris Hemsworth has, too. Especially after those thinly veiled comments that he doesn’t want to make another one with Taika Waititi. In that vein, the Australian hunk has now thrown some added shade at the MCU by praising the practical action and effects of his upcoming Netflix follow-up Extraction 2, a movie he indicated was much more “satisfying” to make than any VFX-heavy Marvel blockbuster.
Return tomorrow, Avengers aficionados, for another assembly of the most eye-grabbing Marvel news of the day.
