Latest Marvel News: Disney Plus cancels an MCU special you forgot was coming as ‘Quantumania’ rises to victory against ‘The Flash’

While we await the premiere of Secret Invasion on streaming next week, Disney Plus just quietly cancelled another Marvel Studios effort that was supposed to make its debut this very week — and they thought we wouldn’t notice. Elsewhere, believe it or not, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has earned itself a much-needed win against the latest offering from the Distinguished Competition, The Flash. Last but not least, Chris Hemsworth talks furthering Thor.

Nobody noticed, but Disney Plus may have just permanently shelved a Marvel Studios special

The consequences of the Jonathan Majors conundrum continue to be felt. Not only was Quantumania held back from its streaming release for months on end, Marvel has now gone ahead and indefinitely shelved its accompanying making-of special. The Quantumania episode of behind-the-scenes documentary series Marvel Studios Assembled was all set to arrive on June 14, and yet it never showed. Who knows, it may well find its way on D+ eventually, but it’s definitely missed its window so there’s a chance this special may end up as stranded in the Quantum Realm as Kang himself.

Against all odds, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earns an unqualified victory over DC’s The Flash

And yet, despite that freshest blow for Quantumania, Ant-Man 3 has just bought itself a nice boost to its ego thanks to the disappointing box office projections for The Flash. The DC flick is predicted to earn around $70 million in its opening weekend domestically, which means it would draw in a full $50 million less than Quantumania‘s own $120 million from back in February. Obviously, Ant-Man 3 immediately lost that momentum in its second weekend, so The Flash could still beat it in the long run, but hey, let’s not take the win away from Quantumania just yet. Let it have this one, huh?

Chris Hemsworth promises you won’t ever get sick of him as Thor, for one very good reason

After admitting he knows Thor: Love and Thunder wasn’t as good as it could be, Chris Hemsworth has offered hope, and a warning, for his future as the Asgardian God. While he’s eager to work with Marvel again to see if Thor can be refreshed once more, Hemsworth promised that he doesn’t want to keep going until fans are “so exhausted that they roll their eyes” when he shows up, so if no interesting creative redirection can be found, then he may just put down Mjolnir for good. In other words, Thor’s journey will end when he stops being worthy.

More of the latest Marvel updates arrive all the time, and I promise you they aren’t always as depressing as Secret Invasion being the worst reviewed Marvel Disney Plus series of the lot.
