An MCU staple writing a slasher musical opens up a special horror opportunity
With Scream VI arriving on streaming today and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 landing in theaters next Friday, the two byproducts interestingly share a common denominator which might come as a surprise for many folks. Before branching out into the Marvel sub-genre, Scottish actress Karen Gillan initially wrote a musical in school that was inspired by the legendary Scream franchise. In a recent TikTok, she showcased bits of the musical for her followers to see — and trust us, the end result wasn’t disappointing at all. In fact, we hope she branches out to the horror genre next.
An unexpected Scream star has opted to be the next Ghostface
With Scream VI being the talk of the town this week, it’s worth noting that a franchise newcomer has offered to don the iconic black-and-white Ghostface ensemble. And considering that the identity of the Ghostface killer(s) is typically left a mystery until the end of the film, then having Melissa Barrera revealed as Ghostface would undoubtedly be a major shock for fans. That being said, this option would also make complete sense, seeing as Sam is the daughter of famed Ghostface killer Billy Loomis.
Speaking of Scream VI, some Paramount Plus subscribers aren’t very happy with the film
While Scream VI is available for streaming on Paramount Plus, U.K. subscribers are sickened to learn that the horror movie is strictly available to stream in the United States. And let’s just say, the reaction hasn’t been great thus far. As to be expected, subscribers from across the pond were quick to express their frustration over on Twitter, insisting that Paramount not making this clear beforehand is nothing but a complete travesty. They’re not wrong, and we definitely stand behind them.
We’ll see you back here tomorrow, Ghostface stans, for another daily horror roundup.
