Halle Bailey is the star that Disney needs to lock down and sign a dozen more deals with, as early reviews paint her as the mighty savior of The Little Mermaid. And true to her rising-star status, she has the oldest and the neatest trick in history on how to leave her fellow cast members “completely overcome.”
As the Disney vs. Ron DeSantis fight intensifies (amid the puzzle that is Universal Studios — despite also voicing support for LGBTQ+ rights — receiving perks from the governor), other big names are making their thoughts known on the ongoing debacle. The likes of NBA star Dwayne Wade and politician Lauren Boebert have already chosen their side of the argument, and now Nike has also entered the chat. On the brighter side, Deadpool 3 finally has an unofficial update from a pretty accurate source.
While we might not be taking you to “The Happiest Place On Earth,” we sure as hell can end the suspense and let your roving eyes take in its fill of today’s Disney updates:
The Little Mermaid savior Halle Bailey has a neat trick to leave cast members ‘overwhelmed’
While the mere presence of the actress is magnificent enough, everyone from Jonah Hauer-King (Prince Eric) to Melissa McCarthy (Ursula) was “completely overcome” and “overwhelmed” by her haunting beautiful voice they got to hear in person on the sets of The Little Mermaid and were reduced to tears or goosebumps (or both in some cases).
While the likes of McCarthy resisted fawning over Bailey as it would be “weird,” her fellow cast member, Jacob Tremblay (who voices Flounder), didn’t let such hesitations stop him from inquiring how the actress nails all the confidence and magnificence despite having a live audience.
“She tells me that … she pictures everyone naked.”
Well, that’s one tried and trusted way for anyone who falters in front of a crowd, and seems like Bailey has perfected this nifty trick.
Nike has already chosen the winning side when it comes to Disney and Ron DeSantis’ ongoing battle
Disney going against Ron DeSantis’ ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill and angering the Florida governor kickstarted a chain of events that is nowhere near ending. So, it is only obvious that other big players in the area make their stance on the whole issue very clear. And that’s what Nike did when CEO John Donahoe lauded Disney CEO Bob Iger, during a chat with CNBC, for “doing a great job” standing up against an individual who is threatening their core values.
“If it’s core to who you are and your values, then no, you stand up for your values.”
Deadpool 3 gets an unofficial but very believable update
With the MCU navigating the minefield that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been — and its whole Phase Five has become as a result of it — and finally bidding the Guardians farewell, Marvel has been in dire need of good news. Thankfully, it has one in the form of industry scooper Daniel Richtman, who has reported that Deadpool 3 has already started filming.
There are many reasons to believe Richtman has struck gold with this scoop — a) the same has been reported by other unofficial sources; b) many of Richtman’s past Marvel reports have turned out to be true; and c) it matches director Shawn Levy’s promise for the production date back in 2022. We’ll keep you posted.
