While DC fans may never get a clash between Black Adam and Shazam, they can at least get an inkling for what the feud could have looked like. Dwayne Johnson is serving up shade with a side of beef, and Zachary Levi is really not here for it. The two are set to meet up at Comic-Con this year, and a snapshot from last year is setting the stage for a showdown between the actors. Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg is feeling the weight of the comic book world and the film maker might be ready to throw in the towel when it comes to superheroes. Fellow DC director David Ayer is yet again calling for a shot at redemption, and the filmmaker has come clean about another characterization from Suicide Squad that he had no part in.
Shazam Vs Black Adam smackdown 2023
In the wake of box office flops Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam, and stuck in limbo for what the future might hold, fans are clinging to the one thing we still know for certain, The Rock is a bit of a d**k. After refusing to make a cameo for his character, Black Adam, during the first Shazam! it’s now surfaced that the former wrestler also banned Shazam! star Zachary Levi from appearing at the end of Black Adam. This has been essentially confirmed by Levi himself. For some the rivalry is just exhausting, and fans have taken to twitter to deride Johnson for refusing to play the part he was cast in.
A picture is worth 1000 words
A picture from Comic-Con 2022 has resurfaced, and fans are starting to realize the feud may have been brewing for some time. Some fans were delighted by the confrontation, flocking to Twitter to speculate what the two were discussing. Others were less amused, with their rhetoric around the DC actors rife with exhaustion and a desire to see their favorite comic characters face off on the big screen. With the poor reception of both Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam it might be best to take an aloof approach and ignore the mid-level beef, and instead focus on the few remaining Snyderverse releases set for later this year.
Comic book fans are exhausting, according to David F. Sandberg
Director David F. Sandberg is ready to leave the DCU and comic book movies in general after his foray into the genre with Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The director has faced several backlashes against comments he has made since the movie’s premiere, with fans feeling as though the filmmaker has insinuated that the fans themselves to blame for poor box office performance. Sandberg has made no secret of his feelings, claiming his comments are being taken out of context. The vitriol unleashed by fans has made it clear that the director needs a break from the community, and the filmmaker is looking forward to an extended break from the superhero genre and its inherent pressures.
David Ayer washes hands of ‘Suicide Squad’ characters
David Ayer has been trying to clear his name for years. Suicide Squad was one of the most-anticipated releases for the DCU but and the film failed to deliver, Ayer — who wants to clear his name wherever he can — has already disavowed much of Harley Quinn’s personification, and loudly decried the god-awful Joker incarnation the film used. The filmmaker has taken to Twitter to call out another character the movie did dirty, Killer Croc. The director and longtime DC comics fan has pushed for the release of his original vision, but so far WB hasn’t seemed keen on allowing the Ayer-cut to see the light of day.
