The sum total of how much I care about Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, the Twilight franchise, or anything having to do with it, is exactly nil; despite, of course, being a woman and apparently supposed to like that kind of thing. BUT – and there is always a but – the most recent news about Stewart’s involvement in the projected Snow White and the Huntsman sequel makes me just the teeniest bit happy.
Radar Online is reporting that Stewart has signed on to play Snow White yet again, while Rupert Sanders, the original director, is most definitely not returning. According to Radar’s source:
“The script has already been written and production will begin late next year … However, Rupert Sanders definitely won’t be a part of the project. Rupert didn’t want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage. The search is still on for a new director.”
Dang. All right, so this is getting a bit gossipy, but it’s nice to see Kristen Stewart confirmed for the part she originated. After Stewart and Sanders had that much publicized affair that ended with predictable break-ups and tabloid rumblings, it appeared that Stewart wasn’t going to come back for the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel, with reports that she had been dropped by Universal over the affair. So while Sanders went on his merry way, with reports of the possibility his directing The Juliet for Sony, or working on Tom Cruise’s Van Helsing, Kristen Stewart hovered in that Hollywood netherworld reserved for unfaithful women and ‘homewreckers’.. Not that Sanders had the least iota of responsibility on this one. Not. At. All.
So, there you go. Stewart’s in and Sanders is out. It’s been said that K-Stew is concerned about her career because of the fallout from her relationship with Sanders. I’ve got to say, I think if she founders it will be more because she has the acting range of your average toaster than because she had an affair with a married man. And that’s being unfair to acting toasters, which are pretty impressive.
There are currently no reports on who WILL direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, we just know who won’t.
If you’re dying to see Kristen Stewart show off her acting chops, you can catch her in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, or later this year in On the Road.
Or you can just watch The Brave Little Toaster.
