There’s a lot to look forward to with James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which hits theaters in just a few short months. May 5th is the date for your diaries, and as we inch closer towards its release, the cast and crew are beginning to spill more on what to expect. While promos and trailers have painted a very promising picture, it seems that there’s still a lot being held back, including what some of the more minor characters will be getting up to.
No doubt, fans are most excited to check back in with the titular heroes, but Guardians of the Galaxy introduced us to a number of supporting players who were just as fun and enjoyable to watch on screen, even if they weren’t featured as prominently as Star-Lord and co. One of those characters was Kraglin, played by Gunn’s brother, Sean.
You may not know the name, but Kraglin got to show his face quite a bit in the 2014 blockbuster, acting as a right hand man to Yondu. He didn’t speak too much, but he was definitely on screen a lot and Gunn will be back to reprise the role in the highly anticipated sequel. We’ve already heard that the character will be getting a bit of an expanded role this time around, and now, in an interview to promote his new film The Belko Experiment, the actor dished on what’s in store for Kraglin in the upcoming blockbuster.
Kraglin gets a little bit more to do in the second movie, because it’s only a couple months after the first movie has ended. And Peter Quill is double crossed Yondu and the Ravagers, and yet we haven’t gone after him really. So I think the other Ravagers are sort of like, “Wait a minute, what’s going on here? Where does your loyalty lie? Does your loyalty lie with Quill or is it with us?” So, Kraglin has some decisions to make in terms of where he’s going to fall down, should mutiny go down. That’s always a very fun to play. You want to have a character who has some sort of moral dilemma. So that’s what was really exciting mostly about the second movie for me.
That wasn’t all, though, as Gunn also opened up about his involvement in Avengers: Infinity War, which he was confirmed to be working on a few weeks back.
I have to point out that Kraglin is not currently in the next Avengers movie. I’m playing Rocket on set in Infinity War. I do double duty on Guardians. I play Kraglin on camera, and then I also play Rocket on set. So I work with the other actors and I do the motion reference for the visual set scene for Rocket, and that’s what I’m doing in Infinity War.
Unfortunately, that’s all Gunn would share, but we’re certainly looking forward to seeing his work across both films. Up first for the actor will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which drops on May 5th. Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War will then follow on May 4th, 2018. Before both of those, however, you can catch him in The Belko Experiment, which arrives on March 17th and has been earning some pretty great reviews.
