Former Boston News anchor Heather Unruh has accused Kevin Spacey of sexually assaulting her 18-year-old son in July of 2016.
Unruh, who initially outed Spacey in October, held a televised press conference early this afternoon to claim that the former House of Cards actor made an unwanted sexual advance on her son while at a bar in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Mrs. Unruh went on to allege that Kevin Spacey bought her underage son alcohol – the drinking age in Massachusetts is 21 – before reaching inside his pants and grabbing his genitals.
Heather Unruh was joined at the press conference by Mitchell Garabedian, the lawyer best known for repping victims of Boston’s Catholic Church sex abuse scandal – the same one featured in the movie Spotlight.
“I’m here today, not as a journalist, but as a mom,” Unruh began, before claiming that Kevin Spacey’s “predatory” behavior came at a time when her son was a “starstruck 18-year-old young man who had no idea that the famous actor was an alleged sexual predator or that he was about to become his next victim.”
“There was no consent,” Mrs. Unruh said through tears, before noting that Spacey tried to seduce her son with “drink after drink” at the Club Car Restaurant in Nantucket.
I want to make it clear, this was a criminal act. My son panicked; he froze, he was intoxicated. Nothing could have prepared my son for how that assault would make him feel as a man. It harmed him and it cannot be undone. While he has tried his best to deal with it, as he says, it’s always there.
Neither Kevin Spacey nor his PR team have issued a response to these latest allegations, and last we reported, the shamed Hollywood actor was seeking “evaluation and treatment” in light of the accusations.
It’s a deeply troubling time for Hollywood overall, though, what with people coming forward with allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Brett Ratner, Dustin Hoffman, and, more recently, Charlie Sheen.
