Kevin Feige Says Avengers: Endgame May Not Be Stan Lee’s Last Cameo

The new Captain Marvel offers a Stan Lee cameo in an unusually meta vein that practically brings the tradition full circle, but as Kevin Feige mentioned a few days ago, the late comic book creator still has at least one more onscreen appearance to go. And in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Marvel Studios head hinted that Spider-Man: Far From Home could have the honor of being the final MCU film to feature Lee.

After Feige offered a blunt “yeah” to the question of whether Lee will have a cameo in next month’s Avengers: Endgame, the same question was then posed for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, to which he responded:

“We’ll see. We’re heading– We shot a couple of others, so we’re coming up on the last of them, yes.”

Though Feige is remaining characteristically vague on the matter, it sounds like some footage of Lee was at least shot for Far From Home, and since it doesn’t look like the writer will be showing up in any further X-Men movies, you have to wonder if this will end up being Lee’s final cameo. If so, then it would certainly be a fitting note to end the tradition on, seeing how Spider-Man remains arguably his single most famous creation.

While we wait for some clarification on the matter, Captain Marvel is currently in the midst of its first weekend in cinemas, and offers two nods to the late Stan Lee – an opening tribute, and a cameo that left a certain filmmaker in tears. Next on the MCU agenda is Avengers: Endgame, which comes out on April 26th, and will practically stand as one big tribute to the comic book world that Lee helped create. And after that, Spider-Man: Far From Home completes Marvel’s 2019 release slate when it hits theaters on July 5th.
