Kevin Feige – the prime mover behind the highest grossing film franchise of all time – has inevitably been making the rounds in service of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Working a media junket is never an easy thing to do, but it’s especially tricky to navigate when you’re name is Kevin Feige. Throughout the last week or so, the Marvel Studios President of Production has been poked and prodded regarding every nook and cranny of the shared universe, save for the aforementioned twentieth MCU entry, seemingly.
The producing vet of two decades has fielded a variety of queries from a multitude of media outlets, ranging from, “when can we expect the Captain Marvel trailer?” to “will Marvel be treating the confirmed Phase 4 films differently given the cataclysmic conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War?” See a pattern?
It must be incredibly frustrating to be drudging through a PR campaign for a film no one’s genuinely interested in asking about. Feige’s a trooper, though, and has answered every question along the way; albeit, with just a hint of disinterest.
Nevertheless, our friends over at Heroic Hollywood recently got the chance to talk to him and asked the Marvel Studios president “what it was like to finally see The Wasp in action?” Here’s what he had to say:
“It was pretty great. I mean, the first few times were just costume fittings of her in a helmet with the outfit. And even without the wings, it was amazing. Then when you get into the stunt work and seeing that kitchen scene cut together for the first time, it was amazing. It was everything we knew that she, not just Evangeline but the character of Hope, could be. And fulfilling the promise of “It’s about damn time” which she says at the end of the last movie.”
Set to bridge the gap between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp will be infesting your local multiplex in less than ten days’ time. Tracking toward a debut in the ballpark of roughly $75 million stateside, predictably, the Peyton Reed-directed flick won’t be challenging for any box office records, but it will certainly help the MCU end off what’s already been a banner year on a high note.
