Keanu Reeves has been enjoying a massive Hollywood comeback as of late, and we couldn’t be happier with how things have turned out for him. After a few years of working behind the camera on more eclectic films, he made his triumphant return in 2014’s John Wick and was thrust back into the limelight.
This year alone, he’s made appearances in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe (an enjoyable and cute rom-com, for those who haven’t seen it), as well as Pixar’s Toy Story 4. Of course, his biggest project in 2019 was undoubtedly John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and in 2020, he’s set to star in Bill & Ted Face The Music, as well as CD Projekt Red’s newest RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.
Even though he’s yet to make an appearance in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, that hasn’t stopped fans from whipping up art to see what he’d look like as Namor, or petitioning to have him take on the role of Wolverine. It’s not entirely clear how Keanu will fit into the MCU at this point, but it seems that Marvel Studios definitely has their eye on him.
As reported by ComicBook.com, Kevin Feige has been consistently reaching out to Reeves whenever they have a new project in the works. So far, it doesn’t look like they’ve found the perfect role for him, though that hasn’t discouraged the creative team at Marvel.
“We talk to him for almost every film we make,” Feige told ComicBook.com. “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
In fact, Kevin went on to draw comparisons between Reeves’ situation and Jake Gyllenhaal, explaining that they had to talk to the Spider-Man: Far From Home star “multiple times” until they settled on a perfect role for him. Personally, we’d love to see Keanu Reeves join the MCU, though we’re not entirely sure what character he should play. Thankfully, it looks like Marvel is set to reveal Phase 4 in the near future, which means we’ll soon have a better idea of what’s on the release schedule – and how Reeves could factor into things – for the next few years.
