Kevin Costner Chooses Between Killing And Dying In 3 Days To Kill Trailer

Old actors killing things has become an interesting little subgenre in recent years. We have the ultra-serious thrillers like Taken and The Grey, the self-aware action films like The Expendables, and the outlandish comedies like RED. While Liam Neeson, Sylvester Stallone, and Bruce Willis have more or less cornered the market, there are plenty of older actors who want to get in on a good thing. Case in point: 3 Days To Kill, starring Kevin Costner in the role that Liam Neeson was born to play.

Old actors killing things has become an interesting little sub-genre in recent years.

3 Days To Kill features Costner as Ethan Runner, a former special agent now fighting a vague terminal disease. He’s just trying to be a good guy, getting in touch with his daughter Zooey (Hailee Steinfeld), and making it up with his estranged wife. Enter femme fatale Amber Heard, who offers Ethan a new lease on life in the form of an experimental drug. The catch? He’s got to kill a bunch of people for some reason. No biggie.

The latest international trailer for 3 Days To Kill goes light on the more comedic touches seen in previous trailers, like the father/daughter bonding moment involving a man locked in a trunk. Instead, this trailer has plenty of emotion, as Costner does his level best to prove that he still has the chops to pull off a role like this. Other than the presence of Heard, who’s obviously enjoying herself here, I see little difference between 3 Days To Kill and any other ‘old guy kills things’ film I’ve seen yet.

Don’t take my word for it, though. You can watch the international trailer for 3 Days To Kill below and let us know what you think in the comments.

3 Days To Kill was directed by vowel-shunning auteur McG, from a script by writer/producer Luc Besson. If that looks to be your cup of tea, then by all means carry yourself to the theatre on February 21. Poor Kevin needs a hit after that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit debacle.
