Karen Gillan Confirms She’s Seen A Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Script

The usually smooth production line of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies was cranked to a halt earlier this year when director James Gunn was pulled from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to controversial tweets of his from yesteryear coming to light. With no one in the director's chair, the third adventure for Star-Lord and friends has been put on hiatus, with Marvel's 2020 line-up going down to two movies instead of three.

Despite Gunn’s removal from the project though, it’s widely assumed that the studio will still use his script for Vol.3 – which he completed prior to his dismissal – whenever the movie gets going again. While speaking to People Magazine, Guardians star Karen Gillan – who plays Nebula – reiterated that Vol. 3 is definitely coming at some point and the script is out there.

“Our director won’t be with us any longer but we are excited to continue the Guardians of the Galaxy story and keep delivering to the fans. That’s the most important thing. I don’t have any details as to when [the next Guardians film will come out] but there’s a script in existence.”

But has Gillan actually seen Gunn’s script? Well, the Scottish actress didn’t want to outright confirm that she’s read the screenplay, but she did go so far as to admit that she’s at least given it a brief skim.

“I may have had a little teeny peek, but I can’t say anything.”

Gillan will return to the screen as Nebula next April for Avengers: Endgame. Alongside Rocket, she was one of the few Guardians to survive her father Thanos’ genocidal rampage, so she’ll presumably be teaming up with the other surviving heroes to set things right in the grand finale to the first decade of the franchise. Going by the fact that Gillan’s comments above sound like she’s still committed to the Guardians movies, we can assume that Nebula makes it out of Endgame alive.

Recently, rumor had it that Bumblebee‘s Travis Knight was stepping in for Gunn as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, though Knight soon disputed this, leaving the film without a helmsman. The search continues though, and as soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
