Kang The Conqueror Star Teases His MCU Future

Those closely following the Marvel Cinematic Universe would have been more than aware that Jonathan Majors had been cast as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but few could have predicted the seismic impact he’d make right off the bat in his very first appearance as the special guest of Loki’s Season 1 finale.

There were a lot of fan theories making the rounds that Kang would be revealed as the mastermind behind the Time Variance Authority, but the fact Majors played such a substantial role in the sixth and final episode was still a shock when the MCU is typically about the long game, yet we were given the next Thanos-level threat in all of his malevolent glory.

In a twist on the Infinity Saga’s big bad formula, it looks as though the MCU’s roster of heroes will have to deal with a number of Kang variants causing chaos all across the multiverse, meaning that Majors will have plenty of opportunities to spin the comic book icon in a number of different ways. In a new interview, the 31 year-old teased what’s coming next for Kang, but he was inevitably coy when it came to specifics.

The things that come out that aren’t scripted only come out because the script is the way it is, and the world is what it is. A lot of it was through collaboration with Tom, Sophia, Kate, and Kevin Wright, the producer. They really let me run. And that’s the best thing you can hope for. You take it a day at a time. That’s all I would say about that. You take it a day at a time and clean your plate and see what tomorrow brings. See what the next story is, and then take it from there.”

The presence of Kang already indicated that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would be a much more pivotal story in the grand scheme of the MCU than the tiny Avenger’s previous two solo outings, and may yet pay off the belief that the TVA was housed in the Quantum Realm, which makes more sense than ever after the events of Loki Season 1’s closing chapter. Majors has long since been named as one of the industry’s brightest young talents, and he’ll be getting a lot of chances to prove it in the world’s biggest franchise.
