You know you’re living in strange times when a lot of fans are turning to The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part to provide a more satisfying Justice League outing than the actual Justice League movie, but with the sequel’s latest TV spot, it looks like the upcoming comedy just might pull off such a feat.

The 30-second preview sees the return of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Green Lantern, and it’s already evident that the flick will be updating its portrayals to account for changes in the DC film franchise since the release of the first LEGO Movie back in 2014.

The most obvious adjustment of all is undoubtedly Aquaman, who’s now being voiced by Jason Momoa and whose appearance is now more in line with the character’s DCEU makeover. Another promo from a couple of days ago referenced this reinvention with a short clip in which the new Arthur Curry literally surfs on the old Super Friends design for the character.

Meanwhile, Gal Gadot takes over from Cobie Smulders as the voice of Wonder Woman, though Batman and Superman are again voiced by Will Arnett and Channing Tatum, respectively. What’s more, while Aquaman is no longer the punchline he once was thanks to James Wan’s new feature, Green Lantern has yet to have his post-Ryan Reynolds moment of redemption in the public eye, and with this latest TV spot, it’s clear that he’ll continue to be mocked as a lesser member of the team.

Ironically, all these heroes will be serving as supporting players to an MCU actor, with Chris Pratt reprising his role as Emmet Brickowski, but we’ll hopefully get plenty of visually witty, in-jokey action from the team regardless when The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters on February 8th, 2019.
