If you paid close attention to Justice League‘s production cycle – and if you’re reading this, chances are you did – you’ll know that Zack Snyder has a tendency to share one or two storyboards throughout the course of filming.
For instance, back in October, the filmmaker posted a storyboard featuring Lois Lane and the Man of Steel, where the latter turned to his flame-haired muse to utter the line, “I’ll take that as a yes.” If nothing else, it was a welcome peek behind the curtain, and a good way for viewers to differentiate Zack Snyder’s scenes from those shot under the stewardship of Joss Whedon (Avengers, Batgirl).
Fast forward to now, and with DC fans still quietly rooting for a Snyder cut – you know, despite mounting evidence that he was fired mid-way through filming – Screen Rant has uncovered a never-before-seen storyboard that reveals the director’s vision for a Darkseid Knightmare sequence. Feast thy eyes:
Pretty cool, no? The mere mention of Darkseid is enough to evoke memories of Batman V Superman, and though Justice League decided to double down on Steppenwolf as its primary villain, we imagine Warner Bros. still has plans for the juggernaut of Apokolips.
A Justice League sequel is still possible, of course, given the way in which Zack Snyder’s mega-movie ended, but it’ll have to gain approval from Walter Hamada, who took over as head of DC Films back in January. Yes, there’s a new dawn occurring within Warner’s superhero arm – and we’re not talking about the dawn of justice.
Whether said changeover will seed the creation of competent, well-thought-out superhero movies remains to be seen, but fans can at least take solace in the fact that Justice League is bound for Blu-ray and DVD on March 13th – without a director’s cut, sadly – and you can now pre-order it on Amazon.
