If Armie Hammer is making his DCEU debut via Justice League, the Lone Ranger actor is doing a good job of keeping things under lock and key.
Currently in attendance at TIFF 2017 to promote Call Me By Your Name, Hammer solicited all sorts of questions relating to his co-star Timothee Chalamet, the DC Extended Universe and everything in between. Truth be told, the former Social Network actor has been linked with the seemingly vacant role of Hal Jordan for months, and that’s even considering the fact Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam) once tipped him to headline David Sandberg’s Shazam! spinoff.
Of all the DC tentpoles currently brewing in pre-production, Shazam! appears to be next in line to begin filming, and will no doubt be followed in quick succession by the untitled Wonder Woman sequel, now that Patty Jenkins has closed a record-setting deal to direct.
When asked straight-up about his potential involvement in Justice League, though, Armie Hammer told ET Canada that he’s yet to receive a phone call:
No, no one’s called me. No one’s called me. No, nothing.
Hammer has gone on record to shut down any speculation before, but still those rumors persist. Just last week, for instance, we brought you some concept art that imagined Armie Hammer in Justice League, as his Hal Jordan comes into contact with Alfred for the very first time. A sign of things to come? Or wishful thinking? We’ll leave that one for you to decide.
One way or another, we can expect some answers to emerge once Justice League descends into theaters on November 17th. Elsewhere in the fledgling DCEU, director David Sandberg has officially set the wheels in motion on Shazam!, with production due to commence early next year. Expect some casting announcements very soon, then.
