Julia Stiles is an actress we haven’t heard much from lately. Her last major screen time was in the Bourne films alongside Matt Damon. Today though, it was announced that the actress has joined the cast of David O. Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook.
The Silver Linings Playbook is based on a book by Matthew Quick, and is the story of “Pat Peoples, a former high school teacher who, after being released from a four-year stint in a mental institution, moves back in with his parents and tries to find his silver lining.”
The film will star Bradley Cooper in the lead role of Pat Peoples and his love interest will be played by Jennifer Lawrence. Stiles has signed on to play Lawrence’s sister in the film. Robert De Niro will play the father of Coopers character and Animal Kingdom star Jacki Weaver is in talks to play his mother. Lastly, Chris Tucker is also rumoured to be playing Stiles husband and Cooper;s best friend in the film.
I’m a big fan of the book and so far the casting is perfect, including Stiles, who will make a great addition to the film. This is one that has me very excited and after The Fighter, I’m eager to see what David O. Russell can do with this one.
The Silver Linings Playbook is scheduled to start shooting later this year, with a late 2012 release being eyed.
