TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is turning his eyes towards Archangel. Deadline reports that he’s attaching to direct. The film will be a Bourne style thriller that will focus on a special unit of the military whose primary job it is to hunt down aliens who live among us. Adam Cozad will re-write the Andrew Will script and Scott Free will be producing. Kosinski was in talks to direct last summer and now it looks to be official. There’s not much else to go on right now and this is all that is known.
I’m not terribly excited about this film. The plot seems kind of unoriginal and I feel like it’s going to turn into something we’ve seen many times before. I’m more excited about the director’s other project, Horizons (formerly Oblivion). It sounds really interesting and Tom Cruise is in talks to star.
Horizons is “set in a future where the Earth’s surface has been irradiated beyond recognition and the remnants of humanity live above the clouds, safe from the brutal alien Scavengers that stalk the ruins. But when surface drone repairman Jak discovers a mysterious woman in a crash-landed pod, it sets off an unstoppable chain of events that will force him to question everything he knows.” Sounds a lot better than Archangel don’t you think?
