Filmmaker, actor, and one-time Mr. Fantastic John Krasinski has shared a colorful photo from the set of A Quiet Place: Day One.
The multi-hyphenate posted a photo of himself holding a clapperboard on the set of A Quiet Place: Day One on his Instagram account, with a caption celebrating the commencement of shooting for the third installment of the hit series. He also praised the film’s director Michael Sarnoski, and its star, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o.
Krasinski wrote, directed, and produced the first two installments of the A Quiet Place franchise. A Quiet Place: Day One is a prequel film based on his original story with a script by Jeff Nichols. Krasinski is attached to the project as a producer. The third installment of the series also stars Joseph Quinn and Alex Wolff.
The film franchise is a hit among moviegoers, who applaud its distinctive approach to the horror genre. The masterful use of silence in A Quiet Place calls back to horror classics like Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs, and M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs. A Quiet Place builds tension and suspense with silence, leading to many spine-tingling moments in the series.
The first two films depicted life after an alien invasion saw the world occupied by blind extraterrestrials with enhanced hearing skills. It is unclear if A Quiet Place: Day One takes before or after the arrival of the aliens.
A video game based on the franchise is currently in development.
A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled for release on March 8, 2024.
