Near-future crime thriller Hotel Artemis has swung its doors open for Jodie Foster.
Pitched as a “thriller in its own, distinctive crime universe,” news of Foster’s addition was first reported by TheWrap, revealing that the two-time Oscar-winner will now headline Drew Pearce’s feature debut as “The Nurse.” Directing from his own script, there’s little-to-no story information available at this early stage, though with further casting announcements expected in the coming weeks, we’ll no doubt have a better understanding of what Pearce is cooking up before too long. Besides, with credits on Iron Man 3 and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (among others) to his name, we’re immensely excited to see how Drew Pearce handles the move to directing.
Behind the scenes, Simon and Stephen Cornwell will produce on behalf of The Ink Factory, and in light of today’s casting coup, the latter issued a statement to not only welcome Jodie Foster to the fold, but also express his own excitement to see Hotel Artemis coalesce.
“Casting Jodie Foster is a real coup. She is an extraordinary talent and will bring something very special to the film. We are delighted to welcome her to this exciting production. Drew’s vision is unique and we can’t wait to see it brought to life by a stellar cast.”
With only Jodie Foster’s name on the casting bill, there is still much to be done before The Ink Factory stage a grand opening for Hotel Artemis. TheWrap indicates that all involved are eyeing a production start in either May or June of next year, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this most intriguing crime thriller as it develops nonetheless.
