It’s a project that has been mired in controversy from the off no thanks to Victor Salva’s unspeakable crimes, but even after Wednesday’s high-profile cancellation, Jeepers Creepers 3 is still prepped and ready to take flight.
With Regal Cinemas planning a one-night-only screening of the horror threequel – September 26th is the date for your diaries – today brings forth the very first teaser trailer for Jeepers Creepers 3, in which Jonathan Breck stages his return as the winged abomination.
It’s more of a special TV spot that anything else, one designed to drum up excitement for this month’s exclusive screening at Regal Cinemas. But it does offer up an exciting peek at what’s to come. Headed up by Gina Philips, Meg Foster, Brandon Stacy, and Stan Shaw, we understand Salva’s long-in-development sequel is the direct continuation of the 2001 cult classic. Not only that, but there’s also the promise of “never-before-seen bonus footage” from the Jeepers Creepers franchise, along with an interview with Jonathan Breck. In short: if you’re a fan of horror movies, Regal’s one-night-only screening is not to be missed.
Pegged for Tuesday, September 26th, the Powers That Be will be hoping that Regal’s support will trigger something of a knock-on effect that encourages other theater chains to host Jeepers Creepers 3. But will the event be affected by impassioned protestors? Time will tell.
Here’s the official word from Regal Cinemas:
This September, The Creeper returns. Be the first to see the next film in the iconic horror franchise when Jeepers Creepers 3 premieres in movie theatres nationwide for only one night on Tuesday, September 26. This exclusive one-night event also features never-before-seen bonus footage and an interview with Jonathan Breck, who plays The Creeper in all three films in the franchise.
Once scheduled for a back-to-back screening at LA’s TCL theater before a vocal minority said otherwise, Jeepers Creepers 3 is now expected to light up Regal Cinemas in three weeks’ time. However, whether fans choose to support the unnerving horror flick given Salva’s criminal record is another question entirely.
