Batman V Superman‘s Jason Momoa is currently deep in talks to star in dystopian romance, The Bad Batch. Annapurna Pictures and Vice will co-produce the flick with the former’s Megan Ellison overseeing production.
Described by The Wrap as “a cross between The Road Warrior and Pretty in Pink,” The Bad Batch is a “post-apocalyptic tale set in a Texas wasteland where a community of cannibals reside.” It’s an enticing idea that Ellison and co. are courting Momoa to lead.
Momoa’s involvement was hinted at back in January when producer Ellison tweeted a photo of the film’s director with a copy of the script. In the corner of the screen, the Aquaman star can be spotted holding the screenplay:
Making THE BAD BATCH is essential to my soul. @Lilyinapad is an epic talent. pic.twitter.com/gzPHdNIwVW

The film’s hybrid blend of two distinct styles, horror and romance, will be shepherded to the big screen by Iranian director Ana Lily Amirpour. A recent newbie on the feature scene, she’s already made an impressive start to her filmmaking career. Her first full-length was last year’s vampire movie A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and earned excellent reviews, cementing her as a burgeoning genre talent. We’ll see how she fares on her sophomore effort in the next year, and as always we will keep you posted with any new developments on The Bad Batch.
