The eagle-eyed folks at Latino Review are at it again. On this occasion, the Internet sleuths have posted a rumor that suggests Jared Leto’s rendition of the Joker may appear in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice prior to his supposed big-screen debut in Suicide Squad later that year.
Granted, the report indicates that said role is a minor one, appearing during the course of Dawn of Justice in a flashback sequence – one in which the crazed lunatic would be seen doing damage to Jason Todd, aka Robin. While still unconfirmed, this certainly makes sense on paper. Yes, Snyder’s much-anticipated feature isn’t exactly wanting for characters, but the fact that DC and Warner Bros. are gunning for a shared, Marvel-esque universe on screen lends credence to this cameo appearance.
Couple this with the fact that Leto himself posted the following, rather ambiguous tease via Instagram and a cameo alongside The Caped Crusader and The Last Son of Krypton – even if it is brief – isn’t outside of the realm of possibility.
That’s not the only juicy, DC-related tidbit we have for you today, as Ben Affleck has allegedly been spotted in Toronto, the same Canadian city that is hosting David Ayer’s villain-centric ensemble piece. Coincidence? Unlikely. Latino Review stipulates that Suicide Squad has room in its devious ranks for The Dark Knight himself, further unifying Warner Bros.’ shared universe on the silver screen.
Whatever the outcome, 2016 is shaping up to be a defining, almost make-or-break year for Warner Bros. and DC, with Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice turning heads and raising eyebrows across the four corners of the Internet even at such an early stage. How will each film fare upon release? Time will tell.
