Despite that fact that James McAvoy served as a replacement for Joel Kinnaman on Dreamworks’ upcoming WikiLeaks film, he’s now officially departed from the project, leaving Inglourious Basterds star Daniel Bruhl to step in.
Set to be directed by Bill Condon (That’s right, “Condon”) and also starring Benedict Cumberbatch, the film will be based around David Leigh and Luke Harding’s book WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy.
James McAvoy reportedly left the project for a more mutanty gig over on Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, where he’ll reprise his role as a young Ian McKellen. And though Daniel Bruhl may look like that kid at school who won’t stop talking about The Matrix, he gave one of the best and most unnerving performances in Tarantino’s WW2 flick, and may also be joined on the movie by Laura Linney (who is in talks to play a CIA intelligence officer). Although going by what we’ve witnessed thus far, there are probably two other actors in line to play her role too. Exactly how much dirt has WikiLeaks got on these people?
